Florida Model Legislature House of Representatives
The House PlatformSpeaker of the House Jonathan Marr and House Clerk David Duvet are looking forward to a productive legislative session this year in the House. The House leadership would like to focus on the following issues, as well as those found in the Joint Platform. The Speaker and Clerk are excited for the upcoming legislative session!
The Florida House understands the strains of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and will tackle the obstacles that the state can decrease on its constituents. Legislation form many representatives such as from districts 60 and 38 have proposed legislation that can curve and improve Florida's standard of Healthcare. The House will also focus on the influx of immigration within the state borders. We will make the notion that illegal immigration cannot be tolerated and that certain routes must be taken to secure the status of citizenship. Finally, along with the Senate, we will focus on public education and charter schools; with the state of Florida and proving the right to choose and equal funding for all schools as well as decreasing the mandated state test and common core standards that have hindered the ability of many youth throughout the state. As a House, we will begin to work hard and diligent to make this legislative session the most successful and coherent and ultimately benefit the great citizens of the State of Florida. Being a RepresentativeAt Florida Model Legislature, you can become a representative of the lower house of the Florida Legislature. Serving in this position, you will need to prepare extensively. This includes learning about the Real Florida House of Representatives and how it works with the Real Florida Senate. In addition to this, you must pay particular attention to the Difference between the Real Legislature, and the Model Legislature. Some rules will be different, and you may learn about them on our Resources Page.
In your preparation, you will also need to learn about Florida's system for submitting Bills, and passing them through Committee's. And you will need to learn about Florida Model Legislatures Bills and Committees System. |
