This is Brian’s third year being a part of Florida Model Legislature and he is looking forward to another amazing year of bills and debate from this year’s Senators and Representatives.  

Brian has recently completed his AA from Lake-Sumter Community College and is now attending Stetson University where he is working on achieving his BA in Accounting. In Brian’s free time he likes to watch movies and play video games.  He is looking forward to working with everyone this year at the Florida Model Legislature 2012, and is sure that the conference will be remembered for years to come.

Role of the Speaker at Florida Model Legislature:

At Florida Model Legislature the Speaker promotes a "platform" of interest that are communicated to legislators. He/She is the leader of the House of Representatives. The Speaker will influence the calendar of bills in collaboration with the Senate. The Speaker may schedule and hold several press conferences with the Press Corps. The Speaker also gives speeches at the Sine Die Ceremony and an optional speech at Closing Session. The Speaker also will assist in writing bills for the conference and assisting with the organizational session.
 
The Speaker may also assist in promoting the event and work with the Directors on other conference planning.
