Florida Model Legislature Governor
The Governor's Platform
As Governor Aliddy Diaz of Florida Model Legislature, I introduce this platform as a legislative guide for our 2017 legislative session(s). It is the governor’s mission to lead our state and to promote a prosperous Florida. This will be done by promoting economic development, college affordability, tax cuts, K-12 education, environmental protection, etc.
To begin, we plan to spark economic development by removing business regulations and phasing out the Florida business income tax. By eliminating thousands of regulations on businesses we will see a natural increase in jobs. As governor I proudly support keeping energy prices low by utilizing our large sources of natural gas and oil. We also plan to consistently sustain an environment where businesses are not hinged by an unnecessarily high minimum wage.
Our main focus will also include college affordability for our young Floridians; we plan to appropriate eighty million dollars in funds for state colleges, while halting the rate of state tuition at the ten thousand dollar line. We intend to reduce student debt by making it mandatory for colleges and universities to inform students on their current student debt status and reducing the cost of textbooks.
As the governor of Florida model legislature, I will make it a personal priority in this legislative session to cut taxes for businesses and families in this great state of Florida. I will oppose any bill that intends to enact the climate tax and I will support any bill that reduces property taxes. The State of Florida should adopt a single rate tax system, which will simplify the tax process and close loopholes in our system that benefits the wealthy and the powerful. We will work tirelessly to repeal tax heights in capital gains and death taxes.
In our state, young children are consequential to the future success of Florida. I will see to it that the numbers of charter schools are increased as well as the funding. We will provide ten million dollars in vouchers for underprivileged children to attend private schools that they normally would not be able to afford or attend.
The Florida Everglades are a home to tens of thousands of species of plants and animals. It is our duty to protect these species as well as their environment. When it comes protecting our environment we must not divide politically but unite to create policies based on sound science.
The state of Florida has the largest geriatric population and it is our duty to them to provide community based help with financial assistance from state funds. We will do everything in our power to prevent the reverse discrimination of affirmative action and ensure to all Floridians that the work place is a place of equal opportunity regardless of race and ethnicity.
I reaffirm that we will continue to oppose any restrictions on the rights to bare arms.
I support Florida’s lawsuit against the Affordable Care Act, and oppose any federal health care programs. We will do our best to bring an open market system where insurance companies can compete which then will result in a lower cost of health insurance.
