Model Legislature's Board of Directors
Executive Director: Doug Ryan
Doug has been involved in educational simulations since attending Tallahassee Community College where he joined the Model UN team. While a member of that team, he was also part of the leadership that launched the Tallahassee Southern Model United Nations and served as the 1st Secretary General for the conference. Doug then teamed with Liz Heron to start the Florida Model United Nations and served as it's 1st Secretary General. Building on those experiences, Doug and Liz partnered with Brian Ruscher to start Model Legislature. By day he is the Chief Consultant at Doug Ryan Consulting and is very active in the Florida College System Student Government Association as an Alumni and Consultant.
Associate Director: Liz Heron
Liz is excited to be a part of the Model Legislature team. Over the past decade, Liz has been actively involved in civic education for students. Liz has served in many leadership roles in Student Government, Model United Nations, and Model Legislature. Liz is a graduate of Tallahassee Community College, Florida State University, and Saint Leo University. Liz currently works for Saint Leo University in Charleston, South Carolina.
Associate Program Director: Brian Ruscher
Brian Ruscher is pleased to serve the Model Legislature in his capacity as Associate Director for Program Development. Brian has served in multiple positions for organizations that orchestrate simulations of political environments. Brian has primarily served in Model United Nations organizations and currently is focused on state and regional conferences. He is currently a full time administrative and academic support assistant at the Florida State University is also writing as an intern for the Florida Department of Health. Brian is a graduate student at the FSU Department of Urban and Regional Planning with an expected graduation in Fall of 2013. His focus of study has been on making communities more environmentally conscious and empowering communities to make decisions that positively affect environmental health.
