Political Parties of Model Legislature
Political Parties at Florida Model Legislature will help to draw the lines between the differing beliefs of participants. These parties follow the two major political parties in United States. This process is similar to how Political Parties in Florida's Governmental System. You should become familiar with leadership structure of political parties. Some of these positions at Model Legislature will be fulfilled by staff, and others will be filled by participants at the conference.
Party Leaders are selected by Model Legislature for select party activities such as:
Majority and Minority Leaders
Majority and Minority leaders are elected both in the house and in the senate by their peers. Majority and Minority leaders will be appointed from among registered conference attendees. Majority and Minority leaders of the conference will model those positions as already elected by the Florida Legislature. A majority and minority leader helps to organize the party with legislators and acts as a figurehead of the party to the press and lobbyist. Majority and minority leaders can select "whips" which assist in pushing the debate in a certain way on the legislative floor. Whips must be a legislator.
